Description DONIC BLUESTORM PRO AM
Donic Bluestorm Pro AM – Inverted Table Tennis Rubber for Professionals and Ambitious Offensive All-Rounders
Donic Bluestorm Pro AM is an inverted table tennis rubber designed for professionals, ambitious attackers, and aggressive all-round players (OFF, OFF+) seeking a perfect balance of dynamics, spin, and control. Part of the Donic Bluestorm series, the Pro AM stands out with a slightly softer 47.5° sponge compared to the Bluestorm Pro (50°), providing better control and a more versatile feel. Its highly grippy topsheet and strong catapult effect optimize topspin performance even under demanding conditions, while strict quality control standards ensure consistent performance. ITTF-approved and made in Germany, Bluestorm Pro AM is the ideal choice for players looking for professional-grade rubber with a balanced character.

Donic Bluestorm Pro AM features professional-grade construction focused on dynamic play, spin, and control:
-
Sponge (Medium-Hard):
The fine-pored 47.5° sponge (Hard-) offers a strong catapult effect, ensuring high speed and dynamic play. Compared to the Bluestorm Pro (50°), the Pro AM sponge is slightly softer, close to BlueStar A3 (47.5°), offering longer dwell time and better control. The available sponge thicknesses (2.0 mm, Max) enhance speed and spin for aggressive shots while maintaining versatility. The structure is optimized for topspin and counter-attacking strokes. -
Top Sheet:
A thin, high-tension, ultra-grippy surface ensures maximum spin and direct feel. Identical to the Bluestorm Pro top sheet, it's specially engineered for topspin shots and bites effectively into 40+ plastic balls, even on thin contacts. The surface is elastic, less tacky than the BlueGrip series, but similar in grip to the BlueStar series. It lasts ~50–70 hours of intense play and requires regular cleaning with Donic cleaner. -
High Tension Effect:
FD3 technology and the thin, molecular-tension surface produce a powerful catapult effect typical of modern European rubbers. This enhances speed and spin, making it easier to attack backspin balls and execute counterloops. The catapult effect is milder than in the Bluestorm Pro, making it easier to control. -
High Arc:
Bluestorm Pro AM generates a high arc that stabilizes ball trajectory, enhances spin, and enables accurate topspin shots with a wide safety margin. The arc is similar to the Bluestorm Pro, but the softer sponge adds flexibility and control during strokes. -
Strict Quality Control:
The rubber is produced with extremely tight weight and sponge hardness selection, reducing batch variation and ensuring consistent performance. -
Spin Sensitivity:
Due to its grippy topsheet, the rubber is sensitive to incoming spin, requiring proper technique for blocking or chopping. However, the softer sponge improves control.
Weight: Approx. 50–55 g (cut, 2.0 mm sponge), lighter than Bluestorm Pro (~55–60 g), and similar to BlueStar A2 (~50–55 g). Available in red and black, compliant with ITTF rules. Recommended to use water-based glue (e.g., Donic Vario) and protective foil.
Donic Bluestorm Pro AM – Technical Ratings:
-
Speed: 119 (Fast):
The rubber is fast, suitable for aggressive topspin shots, looping, flat hits, and counterattacks both close to the table and at mid-distance. The softer sponge delivers balanced speed—lower than Bluestorm Pro (122) or BlueStar A2 (131), but higher than Bluestorm Big Slam (105). Speed varies depending on technique and blade. -
Spin: 125 (High):
Its ultra-grippy surface generates high spin, identical to Bluestorm Pro (125) and slightly lower than BlueStar A1/A2/A3 (126). The high arc increases spin efficiency, aiding backspin lifting and spin-focused strokes. -
Control: 91 (Medium):
Offers better control than Bluestorm Pro (88) thanks to the softer sponge and longer dwell time, close to BlueStar A2 (92). The high arc provides a safety buffer for loops, blocks, and serve returns—ideal for aggressive all-rounders.
Trajectory:
High arc, ideal for looping, topspin attacks, and controlled shots. The arc stabilizes flight, aids in lifting underspin balls, and ensures precision in counterlooping. When blocking, racket angle must be closed due to the high trajectory. Users praise its "dynamics," "control," and "spin potential."
Best Paired With Fast Offensive Blades:
-
Donic BlueStar A2: Maximizes dynamics, suitable for OFF players.
-
Stiga Carbonado 145: Balances speed and spin, ideal for forehand use.
-
Butterfly Timo Boll ALC: Provides power and precision, suitable for professionals.
-
Yasaka Ma Lin Extra Offensive: Emphasizes spin, great for looping.
-
Donic Waldner Senso Carbon: Dynamic blade, enhances rubber speed.
This rubber pairs best with OFF or OFF+ blades, as the softer sponge and grippy topsheet utilize the blade's elasticity. Suitable for forehand or backhand use, especially for ambitious players.
Ideal for Players Seeking Dynamics, Spin, and Control:
-
Professional attackers (OFF, OFF+) using aggressive looping, flat hits, and counterattacks.
-
Aggressive all-rounders wanting a balanced rubber for speed, spin, and control.
-
Spin-focused play, suitable for both forehand and backhand, especially loops and serves.
